Accompanying

Accompanying is a form of supporting work, with the intention of:

  • connecting more strongly with, and finding more support for, our creative selves and our processes

  • realising our core creative intentions with more clarity

  • more effectively understanding and achieving our access support needs

  • applying all of those things to our work in very practical ways, with a view to staying energised for, and focused on, and supportive of, creative authenticity

I can accompany a process with multiple people, like a workshop or production, or I can accompany an individual. In particular, I can support an artist in any medium through a Develop Your Creative Practice (DYCP) grant from Arts Council England, or anything similar.

Although not limited to these things, my areas of knowledge include writing for theatre (especially musicals and verbatim work), immersive and other less traditional methods of audience engagement, poetry (especially performance). I use open space technology (which is a very zen and gentle method of working in which the person I am working with leads the journey) and my practice is responsive to the widest possible access support needs. I have ADHD and an understanding of neurodivergence and mental health challenges. I welcome things that are typically seen as distractions and the distracted.
